Sillustani is a cemetery complex on the shores of Umayo Lake, pre-Inca, at an altitude of 3,840m. The tombs that house him tower-like structures, the Chullpas, were for the Qulla people, a civilization that was defeated by the Inca Empire in the 15th century. The graves were partly for entire families, but mainly for high priests and rulers. Many of these tombs were blown up and robbed by grave robbers, or simply were not finished.
At about 13:50, we will pick you up at your hotel to reach Sillustani in a 40-minute bus ride. There, the guide will explain to you in a 30-minute hike, the various grave towers of pre-Inca and Inca times. Worth seeing is the Umayo Lake, which surrounds Sillustani. On request, we visit on the way back to Puno, a typical farmhouse, to get to know the life of the farmers living here.
