Tour to the Palccoyo mountain

The Cordillera Arcoiris de Palccoyo (Rainbow Mountains of Palccoyo) is the first sister of the 7-color mountain “Vinicunca”.

More than 9,000 hectares of sparsely populated nature can be found here. The color of the mountains resembles a rainbow, which gives the landscape a cheerful and mystical atmosphere and makes the journey an unforgettable experience.

At 06:00 you will be picked up from the hotel. The journey takes about 2 hours south of Cusco to the city of Checacupe. Arrives around 09:00.

In Checacupe we visit the three bridges: the Inca bridge, the colonial and the republican bridge, as well as a temple from the colonial period, with fine woodwork, gold leaf and paintings (Diego Quispe).

After visiting the town of Checacupe we continue to the Cordillera Arcoiris de Palccoyo, located at 4900 meters above sea level.

As soon as we have arrived at the starting point, we start our hike of approx. 40 minutes. Here we see valleys formed by glacier erosion and rock formations shining in bright colors.

Llamas and alpacas as well as isolated small mountain settlements line the path.

The Ccacca Loma stone forest and the Red Mountain complete the picture of this indescribably beautiful mountain panorama.

After this beautiful tour and the visit of the Cordillera Palccoyo we return to the city of Cusco around 18:00 o’clock.
